Guidelines for successfully competing

Your team will:

  • Complete a presentation of your solution that is no longer than 10 minutes.  Groups can choose their presenter.

  • Address the real-world health challenge being innovative and using technology
  • Collaborate and co-create solution together

Your presentation may include:

  • Power point
  • Prezi
  • Technical details
  • Screen shots
  • Demos
  • Mock ups and prototypes
  • Static presentations
  • Simulators
  • Websites
  • 1.0 or beta apps

You will have access to a monitor to present your solution.

**Note: If you are selected as a finalist you must present your solution in a final round.  This may be the same presentation as your original.

The Evaluation Criteria:

Solutions will be evaluated by panel of experts from health care, technology and industry based on the following criteria:

  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the health care problem
  • Must be clinically useful in the health care environment
  • Must be created by team for purpose of the competition
  • Must be technologically feasible
  • Degree of completion
  • Cohesive presentation

The Judging Process

  • 8-10 am Teams finalize presentations (For detailed list of judging criteria & Presentation requirements see above).
  • Competition begins at 10 am sharp.
  • Teams must be present to compete.
  • Teams will choose a presenter and give a 10 minute or less presentation to the judges.
  • The judges will assign a score based on the above criteria; each of the criteria will be of equal value. The score will not be revealed to the team.
  • After all of the teams have been scored, the judges will deliberate to tally the results and identify the top 3 scores.
  • The top 3 scoring teams will become finalists in the competition.
  • The finalists will be required to deliver a 10 minute presentation to the audience and judges.  This may be the same presentation as the original.
  • After the 3 presentations are complete, the entries will be ranked 1, 2 and 3 by the judges and the awards will be presented.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
  • Entrants will be required to provide personal information to the College in order to collect prizes.
  • Entrants will be required to return to Mohawk College during normal business hours to collect prizes.
